Cadence & Co recently sponsored the UNSW IA Graduate show called (re)Kindle. As part of the collaboration the students posed the question: What does (re)Kindle mean to you?
Our Design Principal Michael Kilkeary responded with the following answer which we think is worth repeating!
To ‘rekindle’ is to acknowledge past relationships and to redefine them through ongoing dialogue.
To us the notion of timelessness in design is defined by the strength of dialogue between past and present, and the extent to which this engagement informs the ongoing life of a space or a project.
This is true also of the principles in meaningfully addressing and responding to Country in design.
It is also true of our design philosophy at Cadence & Co.
Authenticity in design is not about a solely personal expression. It is about a thoughtful response to place.
